76BUG003 Bond Bug Lime Green

The two-seater Bond Bug was manufactured between 1970 and 1974 by the Reliant Motor Company. Its unique structure comprised a wedge shaped body on a three-wheeled chassis. It had no doors but featured a lift-up canopy and side screens. The Bug engine was a Reliant 700cc initially with a four speed manual gear box with engine capacity increasing to 750cc later on.  Our tooling is based on the Bond Bug 700ES version which came with a few more refinements than the first production models. Registered YTA 181L, our latest release dates from 1972.  The name appears in black down the front of the bonnet and also vertically down the side above the rear wheel arch.  The Reliant name and badge is printed in black on yellow across the back of the car and all interior and exterior trim is black except the wipers and the wheels.

This unique little car was priced at £629 at the time but only 2,270 were made. Given the fact that it was slightly more expensive than the increasingly popular Mini, it was perhaps no surprise. A bit like driving a go-kart but marginally more comfortable!
